Meet Dr. Marissa Cooper
I feel blessed because every day I get to go to “work” and live out my childhood dream: I help people achieve the smile of their dreams and become their friend in the process! My journey in becoming an orthodontist started in Waycross, Georgia in my father, Dr. Marc Cooper’s practice. He was an innovative and revered orthodontist, who instilled in me ethics and love for what I get the privilege to do.
As an orthodontist, I have the unique opportunity to do more than change a smile and improve a person’s health, I also get to enhance my patient's self-esteem. My love for what I do is evident in how I interact with and care for each person, with compassion, respect, and professionalism.
Anyone who knows me or sees me with my patients will attest to how excited I get about each person’s transformation. I love how I can start with someone who has an orthodontic issue and, with every appointment, build their self-esteem and confidence by changing their smile. My patients and I go on a journey: I love how each person finishes with their best smile and the knowledge and passion to keep it healthy for life!
Education and Continuing Education
I was accepted into University of Florida’s 7 year Bio-Dental Program out of high school (Prestigious program in which the undergraduate studies are condensed into 3 years with immediate entrance into dental school).
- Undergraduate degree – University of Florida
- Doctorate of Dental Medicine – University of Florida College of Dentistry
- Orthodontic certificate and Masters of Science – Nova Southeastern University
I’m passionate about learning and strive to remain at the leading edge of developments in orthodontics. Through various courses, attendance at meetings and lectures, and reading the most up-to-date journals, I stay current with new processes and techniques.
Also, I’m part of the Seattle Study Club and Founder of the Mastermind Study Club. This is a prestigious group of general dentists and oral health specialists who come together to share innovative ideas, research, and clinical advancements. Collaborative learning means the best experience and outcomes for our patients.
I love lecturing and teaching fellow orthodontists as well as sharing our protocols and concepts that we have been successful with over the years. Being amongst some of the best orthodontists across the country is an honor and I feel it greatly benefits our patients by being up to date with the latest and greatest techniques, inventions and products in our specialty.

Beyond the Practice
South Florida has been my home since the age of 12. My husband and I met at the University of Florida and are blessed to have both of our families in the area. We have been together for over 20 years and share our home with a four-legged fur baby: our Maltipoo, Emma.
When we’re not working, my husband and I love to support the local sports teams, travel, and try new restaurants!
In January of 2024, my beloved father, Dr. Marc Cooper passed away and it will be his legacy and passion that drives me to be the best person and orthodontist I can be. His presence is felt every day, especially at the office, where I know he would be proud of not only our treatment results but also of the love and relationships that we foster in the community.
